Commissions
Properties Commission –
The Commission is overseeing a long list of short-term and long-term maintenance projects, planned and underway. Junior Warden Jo Anne Schmidt is in charge, working closely with the Commission members. They recently released the following Property Mission Statement:
Christ Church of Oberlin proclaims a sacramental understanding of the buildings and grounds that we steward: an outward and visible sign of the transformative power of God’s grace and love that happens within. We are developing an attractive, accessible campus that adequately and comfortably accommodates and promotes worship, music, fellowship, formation, service, hospitality, and administration. We embrace the spirit of sanctuary, offering ourselves as a refuge of safety, welcome, and wonder for all in a reverent and peaceful atmosphere centered at the altar and infusing the entire property. We will be recognized in the community as an engaged civic partner and host for learning, conversation, the arts, and celebrations, as well as an inviting space for meditation and private reflection. Following the example of Jesus, our vision is to be truly open and welcoming to all by making our spaces accessible to all.
