Daughters of the King

The local chapter of The Order of the Daughters of the King was installed December 9, 2018 as “Christ our Redeemer,” to recognize that founding members of the chapter were from both Christ Church Oberlin and Church of the Redeemer, Lorain.  We were pleased to later welcome a member from St. Andrews Church, Elyria, so all three Episcopal churches in Lorain County are now represented.  We meet monthly and new members are welcome.

The Daughters of the King (DOK) is a world-wide order, “celebrating 135 years of prayer, service and evangelism.”  It is an order for women who are “communicants of the Episcopal Church, churches in communion with it, or churches in the historic episcopate but not in communion with it. The international membership currently includes women in the Anglican, Episcopal, Lutheran (ELCA) and Roman Catholic churches.”

Our local chapter is devoted to intercessory prayer, study of scripture and its relevance to current societal issues, and service. In-person meetings are not possible during the pandemic, but we continue to meet via Zoom and contribute to service projects in Lorain County as feasible. Our meetings often focus on discussion stemming from reading of contemporary authors.  Please contact the church office for more information.
